Our first out-of-state pop-up started with a lot of uncertainty. It was our first time joining Pasar Sera's market, so everything about the experience felt new.
Not gonna lie, I was worried we wouldn't make back our costs. Going into a completely new market felt like a big risk, and I wasn't sure what to expect.
Then came the weather.
It was incredibly windy throughout the event, and some of the outdoor booths were even blown over. Thankfully, the event organizers were quick to help and support the vendors who were affected.
Luckily, our booth managed to hold up against the strong winds. That said, our products kept getting blown around and falling off the table, so we had to secure everything with sticky tack. Our DIY disco mirror suffered the most—the hook kept sliding off the mirror attachment. (It might be time to retire it, sadly.)
The wind also caused some unexpected chaos next door. Our vendor neighbor had a clothing rack set up beside our booth, and the strong gusts kept knocking it over. It fell on my assistant a couple of times, and on one occasion, the metal part even hit my cheek. (Ouch!)
Despite all the challenges, the event turned out better than I expected. We ended up making back our costs, which was a huge relief.
Most importantly, we got to meet our people, our customers. Everyone was so supportive, kind, and fun to chat with. Overall, we had a great time, and we're grateful for the experience.
